Guidelines to Prepare a Paper for the Journal of Research in Educational Systems (JRES)

The Journal of Research in Educational Systems (JRES) deals with the publication of original research articles in a diverse range of formal and informal education. These types of articles are to be based on a systematic and organized scientific research project, written quantitatively, qualitatively, or in a mixed-method design, to test the research hypotheses or examine research questions.

General Principles:

1. The official language of the journal is Persian and the foreign articles are also accepted in English.

2. The article should not be previously published in any of the domestic journals or has not been submitted to another journal simultaneously.

3. The author(s)'s scientific rank should be accurately mentioned and all authors of the article should be aware of the submission and publication, and confirm it in the author's letter of commitment (Authorship Form).

4.  The article should be submitted to the plagiarism checker system and its report should be appended.

5. The submitted files include two folders (files) of the article, with and without the authors' names, the authors’ letter of commitment, as well as the plagiarism checker system report. If all the files are not received, the article will be returned.

6.  Charts, pictures, and tables should be clear.

7. The number and title of the tables should be placed on their top while the number and title of charts and forms are to be below them.

8. The description for each table should be under it.

9. Observe the half-distances in the transcript.

10. Line spacing should be 1 cm in A4 paper size and with a margin of 5.3 cm from the top and bottom and 4.5 cm from the right and left.

11. The Persian text should be typed in the B Lotus font, size 13, and the English text in Times New Roman font size 12.

12. The author of the article is responsible for its content.

13. There should not be a time-lapse of more than three years between the time an article was written and its submission time.

14. The journal is free to reject, accept, modify, and edit the articles, and the articles will not be returned.

15.  The papers received are judged by two or three judges and the final decision on the publication of the articles is made by the editorial board of the journal and after the review process.

16. Submission of the articles and payment for the review process do not guarantee that a paper is accepted, and until the last stage of scientific editing, the paper is not regarded as accepted. If the paper is not accepted, the fee will not be refunded.

How to Prepare Different Sections of the Article

 Title

1 . The title of the article should be short (at least 5 and a maximum of 15 words), and representative of the content, purpose, and research findings, typed in font B size 14 and in bold letters.

2. The names of the authors should be typed under the title of the article in the font B Mitra and size 12. The corresponding author should be marked with a * and the organizational affiliation of all authors should be mentioned in the footnote. The academic email address and the contact number of the corresponding author should be mentioned in the footnote.

3. The title of the article should also be written in English and under the English title, insert the author's name in English with their scientific degrees stated as BSc, MSc, MD, Ph.D.

Abstract

Abstracts (Persian and English) should be placed on separate pages, at least 150, and a maximum of 250 words, and in one paragraph without a headline (purpose, method, etc.). The following parts should be included in the abstract:

Goal: The goal should be clear and unambiguous.

Method: The method includes general information about the type of study, participants, method of sampling, data collection instruments, and data analysis method.

Findings: The findings are presented tailored to the purpose and with statistical results in quantitative studies. In qualitative studies, issues, concepts, or theoretical explanations of the findings are clearly expressed in relation to the problem studied.

Conclusion: The conclusions should not be the repetition of the research findings and should be the gist of the findings, along with the recommendations, as well as implications of the results.

Keywords

Maximum 6 and at least 3 main words. Only words can be referred to as the keywords that are referred to in the title or abstract. Keywords are written alphabetically.

The Main Text of the Article

The main text of the article includes the introduction, method, findings, discussion and conclusions, and references. Please note that the original text of the article should not exceed 5,000 words (the number of words in the abstract is considered separate).

The introduction should be written in a concise, clear, purposeful, and orderly manner. Authors should pay attention to the type, sequence, and logic of the information presented in the introduction. These principles are not different in qualitative and quantitative studies, and their arrangement includes: an explanation of the field of research in general; more specific descriptions of the aspect or dimension of the problems that are of particular interest to this study (theoretical foundations); an overview of other studies related to the issue and subject of the research (experimental background) and the explanation of the existing gap on the issue under the study justifying the necessity of the present study. The purpose or general question of the research is expressed at the end of the introduction.

Important Note: In the introduction, avoid introducing subheadings and write the introduction in an integrated manner.

In the entire article, the specialized phrases and Latin names used for the first time should be cited in the footnotes; the footnotes must be based on the APA (Dortaj, F.).

Method

One of the important parts of the article is the information presented in the method part. In general, the method includes clear information regarding the research process, population, sample and sampling method, the criteria for entering and leaving the participants (if necessary), estimating the sample size, the intervention stages (if necessary), ethical considerations, data collection, and data analysis method as well as the computer software used, data gathering instruments (separately with their psychometric properties, grading method,…)

Important Note: These parts are not included as separate parts under the “method” heading.

Findings

The findings are the results of the study. In quantitative studies, this part includes the distribution of demographic characteristics of the individuals in the sample group, as well as the descriptive and inferential findings of the studied variables. Qualitative research findings in the form of types, concepts, or main issues together with their subcategories are also described with direct participant quotes or primary data.

The number of tables in an article is not more than 5 tables. Tables should fit into the APA format and size 10.

Discussion and Conclusion

This part contains the conclusions of the findings in order to answer the goals or questions of the research. In the conclusion, the study implications, limitations, and its findings generalizability should also be considered. Suggestions for further studies and the use of findings are also discussed in this section.

References

The paper references should be arranged based on the APA format in the form of the End Note. It should be noted that the Latin format of the Persian sources should also be mentioned.

Note 1: If an article is extracted from a thesis, it is necessary to use the article instead of a thesis.

Note 2: The minimum number of references is 25 and at most 40 articles.

Note 3: At least three articles from the previous volumes of this journal should be cited in the article.

Note 1: Before submitting your article, carefully read the article's guide. Articles that meet the journal requirements will not be reviewed.

Note 2: The author's letter of commitment (Authorship Form), the Conflict of Interest form and the cover letter must be completed, downloaded, and signed by the authors of the article, then scanned and uploaded to the journal by scanning it in PDF or JPG format.
