Abstract The purpose of this study was the mediating role of coping styles in the relation between core self-evaluations and academic burnout. By multistage cluster sampling, 233 students of Islamic Azad University from South Tehran Branch were chosen studying in bachelor’s and master’s degrees in 2015-2016 and completed Core Self-Evaluations Scale (CSEs; Juge, Ereza, Bono & Thoreson, 2003), School Burnout Inventory  (SBI; Breso, Salanova & Schoufeli, 2007) and shortened version of the Coping Inventory for Stressful Situations (CISS-21; Calsbeek, Rijkan, Henegouwen & Dekker, 2002). The results of path analysis showed that problem-focused coping and emotion-focused coping had significantly mediating role in relation between core self-evaluations and academic burnout but avoidant coping has no significant mediating role. The data showed that problem-focused coping and emotion-focused coping had negative mediator role in relation between core self-evaluations and academic emotional exhaustion, academic uninterested, and had positive meditator role with academic inefficacy. Accordingly, it can be said that personality traits as a person can predict individual’s differences in people’s coping styles and academic burnout. From these findings it can be concluded that training coping style reduce academic burnout effectively.

Abstract The purpose of this study was to predict the motivation of academic achievement by coping styles with the problems of adolescent girls in Tehran province. The research method is descriptive and the statistical population consists of all female high school students in district 2 of Tehran in the academic year of 1393-94. The sample size of the study was 150 students from Isfahan Shahed high school with the available sampling method from different fields of study (mathematical, experimental, and human). Data collection was done through the Adolescent Coping Strategies Questionnaire and the Progress Measurement Scale. For analysis, multiple linear regression was used. The results show that predictive power is related to referring to others, effective coping and ineffective coping. The relationship between effective coping and referring to others with progressive motivation is significant at 5% level. With increasing relaxation and hard work, the motivation for progress increases and with the increase of worries and belonging to the order decreases the amount of motivation for progress. Therefore, it can be used to increase the motivation of students to develop their coping styles.

The statistical population of the study was all adolescents aged 18 to 14 years old at high school in Qom high schools in the academic year of 1394-95. 144 of them were selected as research sample. They filled in questionnaires of ineffective beliefs, coping styles and risk of adolescents. The research method was descriptive correlational survey. For data analysis, correlation and stepwise regression were used. Pearson correlation showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between ineffective beliefs and high risk behaviors in adolescents. Also, there is a negative and significant relationship between the problem-oriented coping style and the tendency toward high-risk behaviors. The emotional-oriented coping style with a tendency towards high-risk behaviors has a positive and significant relationship. The results of stepwise regression to predict the tendency toward high-risk behaviors based on inefficient beliefs showed that in the first step, the need to satisfy others, in the second step of vulnerability-performance evaluation, in the third step, need confirmation of others, and in the fourth step of success - perfectionism Are able to predict 47% of changes in tendency towards high-risk behaviors. In addition, the results of stepwise regression to predict the tendency toward high-risk behaviors from coping strategies showed that in the first step, an emotional style and in the second step a problem- Predicted 38.9% of the change in the tendency to high-grade behaviors They are.
